Happy New Year!

Hi Dear Peeps, did you have a lovely Christmas and New Year?  We did.

Our Poppet provided lots of entertainment on Christmas Day.  She looked so sweet in a pretty floral dress, white with pink and orange roses on it, and a pink underlay tulle skirt, and of course, pink shoes (can you guess her favourite colour?)01-dscn5232After lunch we sat and chatted and I couldn’t wait to play with the present we had bought Poppet; our Poppet is a Baby Ballerina and luuuurves it!  So we bought her a ballerina with 27 different items of ballet clothing, all magnetized so easy for little fingers to dress and undress.  Auntie MJ had to have a go too!06-dscn524507-dscn5246Hours of entertainment for big and small – it was the hit of the day!

Ma Kettle and I had given each other an IOU for a shopping day together, and last Tuesday we ventured out and had a lovely morning scouring the sales for presents for each other.  In the end we decided on pj’s and I bought Ma these3-dscn5269and these2-dscn5268and she bought me these1-dscn5267and a cake stand (which I’ve forgotten to photograph but which you’ll no doubt see before too long.  All the pj’s were bought at Sussan)

Ma and I also went to the movies together seeing “La La Land”.  Not quite what I expected but a bit of fun.

I quite like this week between Christmas and New Year – not quite the end of the old year, not quite the start of the new.  No alarms; lots of lovely sleep-ins, or fretful sleep-ins if it’s been too stinky hot to sleep!  Lots of flolloping about, reading books, catching up on tv, sitting and talking, and, as Ma Kettle calls them, catch-as-catch-can meals (help yourself to whatever you can find, basically!).  Putting the new diary in order writing in all the birthdays and anniversaries and entering known appointments and up-coming events, those pristine pages of the new year waiting for adventures to begin.

As per usual, our New Year celebrations were quiet and early!  (I don’t like being out on New Year’s Eve).  The weather of late has been hot and windy, hot and humid, hot humid and windy, then hot humid and pouring rain, then back to hot and dry; generally very unpleasant, so it’s been great to be indoors with the air conditioner on!

Do hope you’ve had a lovely time too.  Back tomorrow with the beginning of our 17ufosin2017!  Are you ready??

I’m very tempted to join your “17 UFO’s in 2017” project. I have enough UFOs in my cupboard to warrant some serious action. I’ll see how it goes when I get home in early February. In the meantime, have lots of fun.

  12. Deb says:

Looking forward to 17 UFO’s making progress this year! It was tough to choose (over 30 oops!) but should be fun to pick and choose through the year. Thanks for hosting this.
