The quilts at the Quilts in the Barn exhibition are always a draw card, but the other bonus of visiting is the people, and spending three days there meant I met lots of lovely people!!
Mary and Joe Koval visited again, bringing some beautiful quilts, fabrics, blocks and tops, along with their funny stories, antique quilt knowledge and delightful company.
An Moonen and Petra Prins were to be the other special guests this year, but unfortunately health and family issues prevented them coming. However Petra did send many of the quilts from her latest book, Promenade in a Dutch Garden for us to hang and display. It was so exciting to see the “real thing” having viewed them in her stunning book.
So many people introduced themselves as readers of this blog, which was just lovely! I don’t get many comments on my posts so it was extra special that these peeps took the time to say hello and tell me how much they enjoy reading each entry…..so Thank You to each and every one of you – you made my weekend!!
I met several fellow bloggers who introduced themselves too: Carole, Hilda, and Melissa. So lovely to catch up with these bloggy friends!!

You remember I said yesterday that I “worked” on the weekend? Well this was my view……
Yes, not only was I surrounded by beautiful quilts, had amazing books and bags that really sold themselves, I also got to see the gorgeous and very funny Leonie from Quilted Crow Girls fame, and the tempting wares she had for sale….Someone had to do it!!!……
Did you catch a glimpse of the quilt behind the stand? It is The Most Gorgeous Antique Quilt which Leonie and Deirdre are doing as a Block of the Month project, starting next year……
I know, I know!! Stunning, isn’t it?! Every bird is individual……and just so sweet – right up my alley!!
It’s currently available with prints or with wools, with an antique background and, of course, the patterns. But in talking with Leonie the suggestion came up that quilters with a substantial an established fabric library might be interested in just the antique background and the patterns. What do you think? I’m all for it and will be signing up if that option comes about. There is also the sweetest story to accompany each mail out; chapter one has me desperate to know more already!!

Oh you poor thing, M.. to be surrounded by all those amazing quilts!! It’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it lol!!! I’m going to go back and have a closer look at those stunning quilts… oh and those bags too.. just luvverly!!

I wish I could have made it but it is way, way too far for me to go – I have so loved seeing all the photos on the Australian blogs that have shared – you just do not see these type of quilts that much in the states – and you rarely even see chintz!
