Silly Billy

I’ve been a bit of a goose, a silly billy, and an idiot and done this to myself out on my walk, tripping over one of those rotten furry acorn things …..

I also twisted both ankles, scraped my knuckles as you can see, and have a grazed knee (which is reminiscent of childhood days!). After several x-rays on various limbs nothing is broken – thank goodness! – just this badly sprained wrist – my right wrist!! Could be 4-6 weeks before it’s back to normal – eeek!

It put paid to sewing for a few days as I didn’t feel the brightest but as I need to keep the wrist moving sewing seems to be helping a little, albeit in small doses. More of that on another day.

Unfortunately I can’t lift heavy items, like groceries, pots, pans and the kettle; the Doc said I can’t vacuum or wash dishes; chopping veggies/meat is out of the question. All so devastating!! The poor Golfer is having to do all that, and a good chef, shopper and chief bottle washer he’s turning out to be. Regrettably it also means rotary cutting is definitely out and using scissors is problematic so I’m really not happy about that.

But enough moaning. Thought you might like to see some pre-tumble pics from tumble-free walks. Caught this sunrise

and even on a cloudy, grey day the park is still pretty

Mum is coping well with Lockdown, but I took her a care package the other day and included these flowers from our garden

Better sign off as it’s taken an age to peck this out (hard for a touch typist to admit!) and wrist is complaining.

Take care, stay safe

Meredithe x

  1. Oh no! As lovely as 4-6 weeks without doing dishes sounds, more than a month without sewing would be a struggle…! Hope your recovery is as quick as can be.

I’m so sorry you got hurt! I fell last year and broke my left wrist so I understand. Heal quickly. Hugs,

Take care glad nothing is broken, I’m watching a good series on SBS Sandhamn Murders, might fill in a few hours

Poor you! So easy to do. Hopefully you were not alone at the time. Hopefully you are healing well & have the odd good book to help fill in the ewing downtime.

You poor thing…..many years ago when my kids were small I took a tumble on something similar and ended up needing an ankle reconstruction. I do hope you continue to improve each day.

  8. Oh dear! I’m glad to hear that The Golfer is domestically competent, but that does rather put paid to plans for a wildly productive lockdown! I’m glad you can do some, at least, but you’ll have to be careful not to over do it..

  9. Cécile says:

Oh no! I am so sorry! It is usually nice to have a break from the drudgery of housework, but NOT for this reason. I hope it heals quickly and you can get back to stitching soon. I turn 65 next month and I find I have to be more careful of how I place my feet under me. Hugs!

  11. OMG, I hope you are better soon…

  15. OH Meredith! So sorry and 6 WEEKS? BUMMER. Be careful on the next walk. Take a cane to steady yourself next walk…. Before I had to quit walking (horrible hot summers in South Texas with heat index of over 100) for the summer and move to the indoor bike, I always carried a cane JUST IN CASE….You take care and do not push – 6 WEEKS? Yikes. Keep us posted on your healing progress! We will miss so much now! Hugs

How scary for you. I’m so glad nothing was broken. I tripped and fell in the garage this week and skinned my knee. As you say, it felt like childhood injury I haven’t had in a long long time.
take car. Lovely photos from your walks.
