It’s time for an update on my progress for the Flowers QAL hosted by Cecile and Bea.
During March we had to put our quilt top together, so……..
once all the applique and embroidery was completed it was time to make some blocks. I had an idea in my head of how I wanted the end result to look, so I took out all the black/white/grey patterned fabrics and cut them into squaresdrew diagonal lines and paired them upthen stitched either side of the linecut them apartpressedthen trimmedthen I cut the plain grey squares to sizenext it was time to trim the applique blocks, carefully measuring and drawing in the lines first(!) then cuttingand with my applique blocks and pieced blocks all prepared it was time to play on the design walland after a bit of initial juggling it all just fell into place. I sewed about 2/3 of it before going to Daylesford and finished it off Sunday week ago, in plenty of time to make the deadline (how unlike me!) and I’m very happy with how it looksSince then I’ve been contemplating how I’ll quilt it………kantha style comes to mind but I don’t want to do that on the applique blocks so I’m thinking some outline quilting and random cross hatching?? I shall see what transpires…..but first to baste it!
