Spring seems to be scooting by already. Our days are warmer, and some nights too so I’ve put the cotton blanket on our bed and a lighter quilt. Mum has been staying with us for a couple of weeks and we’ve had a lovely time, shopping, exploring, chatting and just being together. While she was with us Mum organised for her little front strip of garden to be redone and it was such a lovely surprise to see it finished when we took her home last week.
It will look great when the plants have had time to grow and fill out the spaces.
In our garden the azaleas out the front have put on a wonderful display this year, from sporadic white flowers a little while ago
to a stunning sea of white
the Silver Birch is in full leaf
the roses are bursting with shiny new leaves and loads of buds
the genista is a blaze of yellow
the hyacinths have been a picture
and the various daisies around the garden lift my spirits every time I see them
Carole from class gave me a little cutting a few weeks ago which I planted out and it’s already flowering; they look like impossibly perfect yellow circles, don’t they?
and while I didn’t grow them, these store bought iris made me happy too
On the sewing front I’m thoroughly enjoying my “Taking Liberties” and am well past the halfway mark of the first row with the second row cut and ready to stitch.

Eating // There’s roast pork in the oven as I write this and I can smell it all the way down the hall. Salads are starting to make a come back too with this warmer weather
Drinking // Sparkling mineral water cold from the fridge
Feeling // A little discombobulated when it’s still light outside and the 7.00pm news is on the tv. So nice to have the added daylight.
Making // As well as hand sewing, I’m still knitting and there’s a little crochet present on the hook too.
Thinking // Of all the things I should be doing before year’s end!
Dreaming // Of some “me” time in January, just to sew……need to employ a housekeeper for a few weeks while I’m doing it!

Love the pictures of flowers and especially that frog. So cute.
I enjoyed looking at the beautiful garden flowers as it is getting cold here and our flowers are dying fast. Those daisies are amazing.

I would tell you that housekeeping is overrated and to just enjoy the sewing, but I’m going to clean the house after my blog time – I hate things being out of order. Pity the pets and hubby aren’t quite as fanatical about tidiness. Haha! Your garden is looking lovely and full of colour – so nice!

Such a colourful garden! Your Mum will love the flowers as the plants grow into the space. Store bought irises make me happy too. I have wild iris growing here in the garden and they are pretty too. Meg:)
Your garden is full of such beautiful flowers. Here in the U.K. I’m just getting used to the fact that it is dark by 7pm and we won’t have light evenings for another six months!

I’ve found daylight saving tricky to get used to, too. I think I might have gotten the hang of it now 🙂 The days are warming ever, ever so slowly here. It’s gotten warm enough though that the grass has gone crazy!
When you’re finished with your housekeeper, will you send her this way? 😉

I always find the first month of daylight savings quite unsettling but after that it’s so enjoyable having the extra light at the end of the day. Especially as we move into festive season and there is more socialising and relaxing to be done (except for that housework stuff of course!).
