In the garden

Even though it’s Winter, there’s still some colour and happenings in the garden.

The orchids are bloomingand there’s heaps more spikes coming alongI’m very keen for this one to flower as it’s one of Dad’sthe lemon tree is bursting with fruitin amongst the weeds the lavender is flowering (is that right for Winter??)in the pots, plants have reseeded and, even though the flowers are smaller then the originals, they’re still providing colour on the deck the Daphne is about to flower too (thanks Jo)and this Ziggy Cactus is so bright!!How is your garden looking?  I’d love to hear about it.

Mine is mostly dead or browning except for the occasional cactus bloom. Comes from 6 weeks of relentless temps over 100 degrees and the lowest rainfall in 6 years – 2.53 inches. Yours is doing beautifully.

Mmmmm Miss M. My garden is about 2,000 kms away from where I am at the moment, so not sure what is going on. I keep depositing money into my mowing mans account, so hopefully everything is tidy. We usually go home around Sept/Oct and I do lots of verge planting so that when I get back from the harvest (500kms away) I have lots of goodies to harvest, albeit a very untidy patch, but I get it back in order in a few days. I have been known to run down the back yard to check it out with a torch when I do return in the dark weeks later. We have just the right amount of rainfall to keep everything going during the year. My daughter has always had large gardens, so I still get to enjoy flowers & shrubs when I am at her place. My son in Melbourne has fake grass & pots, so not much joy when visiting him. You have some of my favourite things in your garden – love those orchids & the Daphne. The fruit trees are flowering up here in Qld

  3. Given our current drought – something like straw! It’s lovely to see someone else’s flowers!
