Squealers

It was Squealers last weekend and while we nibbled on afternoon teawe chatted and we stitched……..

But first off Helen and I had been to AQC the day before, so we had show and tell from there.  (Guess which pic belong to whom!) Sue has stitched up a couple of blocks from Judy Newman’s book (the name of the block is St Barts)and she was binding a quilt for her sisterHelen was busy with her embroideryand finished it by the end of our afternoonMiss S was hand quiltingas was Miss FMaree had cut out pieces and started stitching up a “Dogwood” blockMiss E is back on her cross stitchKaren is making tiny blocksI made another “Jackaroo Star” block (finished it at the very end of our session)and Miss 10 joined us halfway through the afternoon, asked if she could go into Nanna’s sewing room, brought out some bits and pieces and in no time had made a little dog-teddy for her little brother, complete with vest and needle and thread in its paw!Me thinks this child could go onto great things!

Lovely work as usual. Good food too! Some lovely goodies secured from AQC by you 2 – think I came out with a few more things than the two on my list….. were you there on the Friday? Thought I may have spied you, but wasn’t sure enough to say g’day. The quilts were fantastic weren’t they. The Iris was unbelievable – so many tiny pieces and it still ended up a perfect circle.

Dear Meredithe, I read your post about your lovely new Bernina . Bernina machines are a joy but changing from Janome to Bernina, as I did also brings lots of ‘stumbling blocks’. You can’t just sit down and sew – as i did with my Janome ‘ at least I could not at first. However, learning to chill, as you are doing, do a test sew etc eventually became quite a pleasure – such accuracy! Kathy ( from Bernina) and my sewing shop helped me out of a few awkward corners . Partly it is the more advanced computer system to learn. I have had my Bernina 820 for nearly 10 years – it was a somewhat problematic beginning. My friend has 550 that she loves and I enjoy sewing on – i like the new 550’s. Enjoy it all Cheers Deb

  4. Miss 10 is clearly capable and inventive – and well-equipped with loads of people to ask for help if she should happen to need it!
