Pannier – week 1

As part of my “new” in 6and6in2018, I’m joining in with Cecile’s Sew-A-Long and making basket blocks.

The first blocks for week 1 are made; we’re asked to make 2 per week, more if desired and I’ve managed 3.  But, shock! horror! I had to make my own templates from template plastic for the first one!  How spoilt am I??Luckily I’m also using my “Charm Baskets” template set for the smaller blocksNot quite sure how this is going to end up; there’s a sort-of-plan in my head!

Are you joining in too?

I love your baskets! They are going to make a cheerful quilt.
I ( dove into) the Tula Pink Butterfly Quilt. I’ve had the pattern for 3 years, an aunt who loves butterflies and finally the motivation to make it. The pattern has never been put away, it’s been out the whole time I’ve had it. Between every project and more often I would pick it up, read through, or part way through and put it back down. For some reason I have no excuse for, it just wasn’t ( clicking) with me. This time it clicked & I dove in. I needed (10) of block one; done, (10) block two ; done, (8) of block three; done. Have all the pieces cut for the next three. Now I’m back to work for 3 days, won’t get any sewing done. I work 6 am – 7 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday- out my door at 5:15 am, home around 7:30 pm. Long exhausting days. It will be Sunday before I get back into my sewing room.
For my first ufo I am working on the binding of a quilt that has been waiting a Long Time. A few inches short of rounding the second corner. I don’t know why this one is taking me so long. I’m going to take it to work & try to get a bit more done during breaks.
I haven’t taken any pictures yet, it’s on my list.
One moment at a time in my world right now.

  3. One of these days, I might try patchwork – but you know how much I already have on the go!
