Class show and tell


Jo has put together her “Carousel” (pattern by Sandra Boyle, Everyday Quilts) blocksas has MarilynSame quilt, but such a different look!

Sue W had a lesson in how to foundation piece for her BOMand Sue E was working on her BOM tooDenise stitched more of her blocksJenny joined us to learn how to add and mitre her borders (pattern by Di Ford-Hall “Poppies”) and Lyn finished off the last of her borders/mitring tooGoodness it’s a big quilt! Lyn also prepared the backing and it’s now to be quilted.

In the afternoon Lyn started on another kit, getting ahead of the game as this one is a Christmas Advent Calendar for a grandchildFrances had these “Sweet Sunday” blocks preppedand prepped more in classFrances was given a whole heap of doileys from a friend and has lots she’s picked up from op shops, which she’s using for the quilt although we drew the line at her cutting up this oneIn fact, there were bids all around the room to save it from the scissors!

Fernanda has been away on holiday, but she kept herself busy on her travels working on thisand finishing all her “Sweet Sunday” blocks which we laid outJane is soooo close to finished!Cheryl has three layer cakes and we decided they’d look good stitched up in these blocksand Malathi joined us for the first time and learnt how to baste and hand quilt with big stitchThis is the first of two quilts Malathi is making for her grandchildren (not that she looked old enough to have any, but she assures me she is!)

Annie came into the shop (Hi Annie!) to buy binding for a quilt, and kindly showed us her gorgeous Double Dresdenand beautiful hand quilting

    Oh my… so many lovely things happening here! I love the “Carousel” quilts, especially the yellow background one! And those ‘sweet sunday’ itty bitty blocks are all looking so pretty! I agree, I couldn’t have cut into that bird bath one either, even if it didn’t have family history!
