In the garden

Ma Kettle has been visiting and I took advantage of her help on Monday making her slave away.  First we visited the nursery and bought up on plants and potting mix.  We then donned our “gardening clothes” and set to.

The last couple of days have had a real hint of Spring about them; mild with beautifully sunny skies, the perfect time to rejuvenate pots and flower beds.

We added a white and a pale pink azalea to the side garden bed (the one I can see looking left from my seat in the family room).

I now have three pots filled with primula  and violas

The hanging basket is looking pretty again with polyanthus

More polyanthus in a long pot, then I found a strawberry pot in the shed and planted it up too

with the cheeky viola faces peeking out around the sides of the pot and snapdragons in the top, (and these pots I see looking straight ahead from my chair).

The herb containers have had a revamp; sage, marjoram and………something else (can’t remember what!  I think it’s thyme).

and good old faithful parsley and chives.

And inside, these daffs were a steal at 3 bunches for $5.00.  They were tight buds initially but opened up to glorious Spring, daffodil, golden-yellow inside 24 hours and are bringing us much delight.

It was such a lovely time spent with Mum out in the garden as we discussed which plants to put where; the best situations to place the pots; helping each other with the planting, all the while laughing and talking over our labours.  One for the memory banks and a great feeling of satisfaction and achievement.  Talk has now turned to Ma’s pots and plants.  We may be doing this all over again at her home before too long!
