I’ve just come back from five fabulous days of gallivanting around the countryside with GJ, filled with fun, frivolity, friends, fabric, food and fabric shops.
On Friday we met some visitors at Amitie, Maree and June from Queensland, who had come to stay with us, the first of our new friends for the weekend! We enjoyed lunch at a nearby cafe, and I couldn’t help myself but ask the (very) young woman at the table next to us if I could look at her gorgeous knitting; Sam was only to happy to oblige and we chatted for a while about knitting and blogs etc. It was so nice to see someone in, I’m guessing, their early 20’s enjoying knitting and a coffee in a cafe.
and after a little browsing of the store and just a little fabric shopping we all went back to the beach to view our wares and get to know each other. As the Autumn evening fell, our Queensland friends were feeling the cold on their toes! June quickly put on her stripy socksand Maree donned these cute flamingo slippers.
Saturday we took Maree and June to visit Treehouse Textiles
for more shopping, meeting up with more friends, then out to the pub for dinner.Maree and June spoilt GJ and I with some lovely gifts; I received this workbag and arm rest pincushion – which I love!and GJ unpacked a bag of goodies from June and a box of goodies from Maree including these very special dec’s from Liberty of LondonIrene joined us for dinner on Saturday evening, then on Sunday gave an impromptu Clam Shell lesson as we stitched on the deck. Lots of lovely food (black jelly beans for our Resident Diva – just kidding!)including Amanda’s granny’s apple cake (recipe coming soon) accompanied by my vanilla ice cream for dessertgorgeous bags and basketspretty clams by everyone (‘cept me) including this sweet little one by Irene, using her leftovers from her big one – and yes, that’s my thimble on there to give context!and more sewing accoutrements.Irene was hand quilting
Maree gave us a show and tell of some of the quilts she’s working on.
