Friday sewing

At 3.00am Friday morning a very welcome southerly change blew through Melbourne (how do I know the exact time??!!) bringing with it some much needed rain.

It was delightful to be able to open the house up and have that cool, cool breeze flowing through. As sewing was at mine, and as I was feeling energised due to the change in weather, I was up early with the cookery books open and that oven on ready to bake up a storm!

By the time my coterie arrived, there was Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup, with home made bread still warm from the oven

20160319-185353.jpgThe hot cross buns were bought, but I did make the Pumpkin and Orange Cake for afternoon tea.

20160319-185446.jpgThere were just three of us, but we achieved lots! Maree finished her little hexie bag

20160319-185534.jpgHelen finished her last appliqué block for her Pseudo Baltimore

Sometimes groups are more fun when fewer show up! Not as much sew and tell…but more conversation. Blocks and bread look amazing. We are in the midst of the national college basketball tournament and we can hardly break away from the TV. I was a prof at gonzaga u….a university in our state that is doing so well against the big schools!v hard to quilt and watch but I am trying!

The perfect calming balm after a stressful morning! – knowing we had the cool change – as I was driving over – I new you would cook OUR FAVOURITE corn soup!!! and my favourite cake was a lovely surprise – thanks M !!!!! hugs

  12. It is still hard to imagine that you are enjoying a totally different season! That sweetcorn soup looks lovely as does all the other food, as always. I want to make some hot cross buns for tomorrow. As it is our tradition too back in Bermuda. That hexie bag is too cute and the appliquéd block. I love your little clothes pins.

Thank you for taking the time to comment - reading them makes my day!
