Sewjourn – part 1

It’s time for a Sewjourn!

20160213-120758.jpgI came up with Maree late on Thursday afternoon but some of the girls had come up earlier, via Patch n Quilt, as you do!

They had a wonderful time shopping……

20160213-121537.jpg……picking up all sorts of lovely fabrics.

20160213-121638.jpg

20160213-121656.jpgCarolyn showed us the first basket she bought when she started quilting

20160213-121839.jpg

20160213-121900.jpgJanine had her stars on the design wall

20160213-122031.jpgGJ had some wool felt pieces from Sewn and Quilted and from a pattern she’d bought from Mary in the afternoon, started making these sweet pear pincushions

20160213-122245.jpgand putting them to immediate use! Intrigued, Maree made one too.

Yesterday, those who hadn’t been shopping headed over to Mary’s – we couldn’t miss out! We were all very taken with the fabulous Alison Glass Art Theory fabric

20160213-123141.jpgSo we enjoyed our shopping too!

20160213-123358.jpgand Maree scored this box and a door stopper at the at the Op Shop next door

Morning tea was out by the time we returned

20160213-123459.jpgand Fleur had joined us. Fleur was also taken with the pears and made a little one for herself

20160213-123808.jpgCarolyn made some more hexies

20160213-123954.jpgfor this gorgeous quilt

20160213-124033.jpgand Jan played with Lucy Boston in Liberty and linen.

Lunch was a lavish affair with salmon and salad

20160213-124325.jpgThen there was a special presentation; GJ and Fleur have started a ritual of giving “unusual” gifts. This time Fleur was the lucky recipient of a special find of GJ’s. Skippy Belle is now helping Fleur with her sewing

20160213-124835.jpgand last night Skippy Belle enjoyed a wine, while her joey enjoyed a chocolate or two!

20160213-124934.jpg(For those of you on Instagram, you can follow Skippy Belle’s adventures @glendacust)

After a lot of faffing and reading of magazines, I finally started cutting out a shirt/dress

20160213-125201.jpgand just before bed time last night, it was finished!

20160213-125240.jpgWith HUGE thanks to the marvellous Maree who guided, advised and where necessary rescued me (and consequently didn’t get much of her own stitching done!)

Anyone for a stitch?

More tomorrow!

So much inspiration as always. I have got to make it to Patch n Quilt. I am going to Pakenham next weekend to see a brand new baby. Just looked up how far it is but too far I don’t think HE will want to drive 1.5 hours to a quilt shop. I cannot understand why. Is perfectly reasonable to me. Carolyn’s hexagon quilt is soooo beautiful. Do you know if it is her own design or is a pattern available? Thanks again Meridithe for bringing joy to my day

  2. Looks like great fun as always Meredithe! Lots of lovely fabric and well done on that dress! So modern and fresh!

  3. Judy says:

Love Carolyn’s hexagon quilt, and the concept of that larger print for the single hexie border. Beautiful purchases as usual and see a few that I would have no problem owning. Gorgeous work, fabric, dress, and food. Looking forward to seeing more.

Hello Meredithe, loving those pear pin cushions, of course the plethora of fabric but very impressed with the shirt dress! Jenny and I keep saying we really want to make our own clothes. I am sure we’ll get round to it at some point. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Have a lovely weekend,

    Lucy xx

  5. What fun – and the little pears are so useful, too!

A what a wonderful way to spend time with like minded people and provide support to each other. Loved the fabric and I especially liked the hexagon quilt

Thank you for taking the time to comment - reading them makes my day!
