Saturday Squealers was a very special Saturday as our Miss Helen was celebrating a “Big 0” birthday (I ain’t sayin’ which one!). We surprised her with a High Tea and a special guest. I guess I should apologise here for all the noise we made with talking, laughing and, of course, squealing! So if we disturbed the quiet of your Saturday afternoon, apologies abound……..

Come on, I’ll show you what we got up to!

The special guest was Helen’s life long friend who drove up from her treehouse to share in the festivities, and is none other than fellow blogger Marian. If you follow Marian’s blog you will know she makes the most exquisite mini quilts, and she had made a very special one for our Helen

20150907-175556.jpgand Kaye presented Helen with an even smaller gift; see that little box? We all wondered what it could possibly contain……and look……

20150907-175717.jpgthis beautiful silver thimble in an inscribed box (‘cept we can’t read the writing!)

20150907-180011.jpgwith a history that it’s from England and is nearly 100 years old.

20150907-180249.jpg(Seeing the size of the thimble give you a better perspective of the size of the pieces in Marian’s quilt – amazing, huh?)

We all brought along a contribution to the High Tea

20150907-180343.jpgand Mrs Mac had the tiered cake plates on which to display the scumptiousness

20150907-180442.jpgand being Spring we were treated to a pretty floral display on the table as well

20150907-181912.jpgNow some people may have had to try a bit of everything………

20150907-181957.jpg……..just sayin’!

After over-indulging, some of us turned our hands to our work……..

Marian is crocheting a ripple blanket (housed in a fab retro basket)

20150907-182247.jpgMiss E finished a tiny knitted hat

20150907-182330.jpgMrs Mac is Lucy Boston-ing

20150907-182409.jpgHelen is knitting a fluffy scarf

20150907-182441.jpgKaye is making tiny hexies

20150907-182505.jpgI’ve started on some Secret Women’s Business

20150907-182541.jpgand we had a lovely Ta-Da moment from Maree with her finished “Message in a Bottle” quilt. Just Beautiful.

20150907-182754.jpgAnd no birthday would be complete without a Birthday Cake.
