In the garden

I’ve been a tad concerned about our Claret Ash. It’s been very late in coming into leaf this Spring, and I did wonder at one stage if it had died. But in the last few weeks – finally – new leaves have appeared; that glorious, wonderful Spring-new-leaf green, one of my favourite colours, that looks so fabulous against a blue Spring sky!

20141109-105514.jpgSome of the branches, as you can see, are still not in leaf; we may have to call in an arborist yet. I do wonder if the late leafing means something in terms of the type of Summer we’re in for? If the last couple of days are something to go by, we could be in for a very hot Summer.

A few pics of other “bloomers” in our garden::

How’s your garden looking?

Thank you for sharing the trees and flowers of your area. It’s sort of strange to read that summer is coming when our winter is coming. If our summer is like yours, plan on lots of hot days. In the almost thrity years I’ve lived in southern CA, I don’t recall a hotter summer. I, too, love seeing the new buds on the trees. Their color is unique.

I love that new leaf green color too! Since you asked, my garden is all cut back and ready for winter. We’ve already had snow a few times so I was pleased to find a few pansy blooms left to bring in for a small vase – the last flowers until next May. So post your flowers and I can enjoy them on my screen :0)

    Hello Meredithe !!
Your garden is so amazing with all these colours…. I still have one rose in my garden !! But it’s the autumn and yellow leaves recover the ground and no sunshine for today !

No bloomers in my garden these days. Freezing cold weather is on into way this week. So there might be snow in my garden :0)

  7. It will be interesting to see what the summer brings and to look back on this post so see if the tree was right ..!!!

  8. Glad the tree is OK! Our garden is bedded down for the winter – fingers crossed it’s a mild one!

Thank you for taking the time to comment - reading them makes my day!
