“Heaven on a stick”

The heading for this post is an oft quoted Miss Helen-ism and aptly describes how we find ourselves currently. We are in a Bliss (see side bar reference) at Sewjourn for the whole weekend!

Of course, a weekend away wouldn’t be complete without a road trip, so we indulged in a visit to Millrose

20140809-071730.jpg (the Liberty pears are for you Lizzie!)

As always, the shop was welcoming, warm and cheery, with lots to see and ooh and aah over – which we did plenty of! By the time purchases were made, hungry tummies needed feeding; we took a short stroll down the road to the cafe – so convenient!

20140809-072106.jpgLuckily we didn’t need our brollies

20140809-072208.jpgand it would have been so lovely to sit here, but far too cold!

20140809-072254.jpgWe did stop to admire the camellias though

The cafe is so inviting

20140809-072513.jpgthe food delicious

20140809-072602.jpgand the hot chocolates hot and indulgent!

20140809-072640.jpgBack on the road it wasn’t long before Sewjourn was in view and we’d settled in; fire roaring, hot cup of tea to hand, complete with home baked goodies, and needles in hand for an afternoon of stitching Bliss! Heaven on a stick indeed!

What’s that?? Our purchases at Millrose? Oh, ok – Helen chose some crotcheting

20140809-073150.jpgMrs Mac a background and bits for two different projects

20140809-073248.jpgand this lot is mine; I thought the owl and pussy cat fabric would make a cute bag for Poppet (yes, she’s a bit little at 4 months, but indulge me!!), and Anna Maria Horner ‘cos I love it! How cute are those elephants? And the oranges are just yummy. I’m taking a crochet class later this month, so needed(!) the hook, the wool is for a scarf I’m knitting (more on that later this weekend), and the threads are for Bird Dance.

20140809-074837.jpgAll totally justifiable!!

Have a fabulous weekend my lovelies! We’re going to!

Oh, I am so envious…..we here in the Pacific NW of the USA are fighting mudslides, fires, horrible windstorms…….not a good summer. Dreaming of slower, COOLER, winter days of stitching bliss

Oh Miss Helen is so eloquent – you are indeed “in a Bliss” – what an apt description for a weekend quilting retreat. Yes – I too am envious of your weekend – where there’s nothing more than sewing, eating, laughing, more eating, sewing……. and it goes on. No other responsibility! Enjoy.

  4. I agree. Your weekend does sound like Heaven on a Stick. Enjoy ladies.
