Fun Times in the City

This time last week I was enjoying a trip into Melbourne with Linda and her Norwegian friend, Randi….and boy, did we have fun!! (Yes, a whole week ago!! Too much is happening!!)

After travelling in by train, we had a coffee at Young and Jacksons, then headed to, of course(!), l’uccello to sample Kim’s lovely wares. Kim’s eye for detail and selection of stock is fabulous; I just want to buy everything!! Here’s a sampling, including a little bit of an Easter theme…..

20140327-142039.jpgOn our wanderings we happened upon ganache, a gourmet chocolate shop/cafe, again with the Easter theme…..

20140327-142335.jpgNaturally, we had to take Randi passed The Hopetoun Tearooms

20140327-143005.jpg…..passed, because the queue was a mile long!!

Further into the Block Arcade there’s Haigh’s, with wonderfully chocolated windows; more Easter confectionary to tempt!

20140327-143451.jpgCan you see the funny, little, not-bunny things?

20140327-143542.jpgthese are a native Australian marsupial, the bilby. There has been a push for quite some time for Australians to embrace the “Easter Bilby” as opposed to the Easter bunny. And looking this cute, I think it’s a great idea! Bunnies are, after all, considered a pest in this country!

20140327-143921.jpgAround the corner is a gentlemen’s tailor, who has no qualms about showing off his considerable skills to all and sundry walking by the window….which is where we spotted these shears. Check the size!!

20140327-144346.jpgand if you think they’re big, check out these ones…..!!

20140327-144436.jpgAfter all that walking (and drooling over the chocs!!), it was time for lunch at, what is fast becoming a tradition…..ummm, that little cafe out the back of that arcade… know the one……oh dear, I’ve forgotten the name!! However, the food is fabulous!!

20140327-144750.jpgReplete and satisfied with our day, we headed home, stopping on the way to the station at a “please take a free daily saying” box which revealed these!

20140327-171142.jpgOver a cup of tea we perused our spoils; mine

20140327-171329.jpgalong with an Easter present for her husband (like that’s going to last until Easter!!)

20140327-171440.jpgand Linda’s

20140327-171507.jpgwith the reminder about the up-coming show too.

Now, please wipe your screens of the drool before moving on!!

Great photos of the shopping expedition. But where did Randi buy the blue toile like fabric (or is a tea towel) I would like to add it to my stash. Always great ideas from the blog – your students and friends do great things.
