I can’t leave my sewing machine alone!

Remember the fabric that I bought a couple of weeks ago, Terra Australis by Emma Jean Jansen? I’ve cut it up and started piecing it together. “What,” I hear you say, “are you doing now?” Do you remember the brick work I saw some months ago?

20140128-182920.jpgPut the two together…….I’m inspired!!

Wanna see??

After mapping out a plan on EQ, I started cutting into the fat quarters.

Folding the fat quarters along the selvedge….

20140128-183224.jpgtrimming off the selvedges….

20140128-183417.jpgthen cutting 2.5″ strips along the selvedge….

20140128-183554.jpgI cut three sets of strips from each fat quarter….

20140128-183648.jpgtrimmed the strip ends…..

20140128-183734.jpgthen cut the strips at 4.5″…..

20140128-183852.jpgWith 20 far quarters, I cut lots…..

20140128-183942.jpgand lots of rectangles!

20140128-184036.jpgThen I sorted them into groups of three…..

20140128-184128.jpgstitched two of the rectangles together down the long sides….

20140128-184226.jpgthen the third one across the bottom of the pair…..

20140128-184319.jpgOne block done!

20140128-184401.jpgI couldn’t leave it alone!! Before long all the blocks had been chain pieced together, plain blocks from the gorgeous Waratah fabric cut, and sashings and cornerstones cut too!

20140128-184600.jpgShe’s going to be a big one! I have three columns together so far and hope to show you a top next week!!

(Singing) I love Summer with an air conditioner!!
