Shopping in Geelong

Tuesday. Continuing on from yesterday, after lunch Cousin J, Miss Helen and I went exploring some of Geelong’s patchwork shops. Always a pleasurable experience!!

First stop was A Little Different, which has had a makeover since I was last there and looks fabulous. We had a very enjoyable time browsing the shelves, investigating baskets of fabric, delighting in discoveries……well, you can see for yourself……

20140125-172146.jpgand the very friendly Di helped us with our purchases. Helen bought this pattern and fabric bundle.

20140125-172314.jpgCousin J bought some fabrics too, but I forgot to take a photo! She’s going to use them to make some Dashing Hues, and I bought some too, which you’ll see next week.

Our next stop was Jiddi’s Patch which I hadn’t visited before and is also filled with lots of goodies…..

20140125-172704.jpgThe delightful Sherren showed me where I could lay out my Dashing Hues quilt top to audition some border fabrics. I rapidly made a decision after a stellar suggestion from Sherren – show you next week – then we learnt Sherren is a regular not an assistant; just helps out when the shop is busy!! What a great customer!! Chris then cut and wrapped my purchases and it was time for a cuppa!

Over the road is Ebony and Ivory, a fabulous cafe/restaurant…..

20140125-173527.jpg….where we revived ourselves with coffees and just a little bit of cake! Mr P was able to join us too, and we spent some more time chatting while devouring our afternoon tea.

Too soon it was time to bid Cousin J and Mr P farewell, but we’ve promised to visit each other again…..yippee!!

Helen and I then set out to The Blanket Box and a visit with Zoe. Again there was much to see and explore……

We drove back to Melbourne town, extended the socialised and dined with The Golfer at the golf club, then Helen headed her car to home, and The Golfer and I made our way to ours. After such an eventful day, I slept very well that night!!

What a lovely time you must have had visiting all those shops ! Wish we had more like that here 🙂

  3. What a spree! A quilters paradise outing!
I would have been on stimulus overload and not been able to make my mind up for any purchase. The same thing happens to me at a large quilt show. The vendor wares are a colorful blur.
    You must have great focus.
I hope it’s cooled down now and become more comfortable outside.

Sounds like you had a fantastic day, one that helps to refill the glass. I love the words on the sign, infact I have one hanging in my kitchen. Looking forward to seeing how you use the new fabrics.
