Mug Rug Fun – part 2

Continuing on from yesterday…..

5″ foundation block is done

20140113-220446.jpgCut a piece of wadding at about 6″

20140113-220601.jpgand a piece of backing at 6″

20140113-220644.jpgLayer up just like a quilt; backing right side down, then wadding, then the top

20140113-220751.jpgSecure with some safety pins…

20140113-220850.jpgThis is a mug rug, so I’m not going overboard with quilting; line up a ruler on the diagonal and I used a Hera Marker to “rule” a line

20140113-221010.jpgCan you see the indentation made by the Hera Market (no pen/pencil to remove!)

20140113-221116.jpgSew along this indentation

20140113-221159.jpgRepeat on the other diagonal.

Cut binding at 2″

20140113-221246.jpgBind as you would a quilt

20140113-221340.jpgand trim to just outside the raw edges.

Turn binding to the back and hand stitch down.

So there we have it….

20140113-221504.jpgthree cute mug rugs, for three lovely ladies, from three grateful people!

Have you made a mug rug?

Meredithe, they look gorgeous. I’m sure the ladies will love them. No I haven’t ever made a mug rug, however with your easy directions I’m inspired to go ahead and use up a few of my scraps and make some. Thx
