Weekend Stitching

Hello! How was your weekend? Mine was full of stitching and friends.

Friday I was at Mrs Mac’s for lunch……

20131111-130300.jpg….and Mrs Mac brought out the first of her Farmer’s Wife blocks…..

20131111-130928.jpg…this is a project that captivated Mrs Mac several years ago, and finally she’s given in – and looking gorgeous already!

Miss D joined us after lunch, bringing a new bag…..

20131111-131141.jpg…and a pile of black and yellow fabrics to start a quilt for her son. Miss D is very new to quilting, so we had a lesson in rotary cutting and soon turned the fabrics into squares….

20131111-131435.jpg….ready to stitch into blocks for a split 9-patch quilt…..

20131111-131552.jpgBeing a true chocoholic, I spied this on Mrs Mac’s shelf…..

It belongs to Mr Mac – and he’s had it for More Than A Year!!! How do men do that? Wouldn’t last a few days in our household!

Saturday I visited Miss Helen and we took a mini road trip to Patchwork Passion. I haven’t been there for quite some time, and, of course, the shop has changed and grown with new fabrics, new products and new adventures!

20131111-132436.jpgHelen bought these lovely fabrics while there…..

20131111-132523.jpg…and once we arrived back at Miss Helen’s, we played with her stash and added these…..

20131111-132619.jpg…all ready to make my Hamptons Cabin Quilt. Should be gorgeous!!

Helen also has 6 of her Prairie Star blocks finished……

20131111-132812.jpgI’ll show you what I bought tomorrow!

Little Miss J visited too, and while stitching doesn’t hold her 5 year old attention for long, we did enjoy a game of Snakes and Ladders….

20131111-133016.jpgit’s an age since I’ve played this game, and had to be reminded of the rules! I started well, getting a ladder with my first throw, but from there on it was mostly down the snakes!! All good fun! (For the record, Miss Helen won!)

Helen’s garden is blooming too…..

20131111-133219.jpgDelightful!

More tomorrow!

Looks like a wonderful sewing day again. I love those pretty star blocks. And how nice to see the beautiful flowers — everything is starting to freeze here, so we rely on those of you down under to carry us through the winter!
