August is the time for our annual weekend away at Sewjourn, a fabulous trip away with friends; lots of stitching, eating, relaxing and catching up.
We were some participants short, and two of our number had to work on Friday, so Helen and I planned a visit with a difference, starting with the Costume Exhibition that I’d visited the previous week. I knew Helen would thoroughly enjoy this and we spent a lovely time Friday morning perusing the costumes. After training it back to home, we packed the car, stopped off for a bite of lunch…..
…oops! we were ravenous!….and a fortifying very large mug of hot chocolate
Then it was time to hit the road proper, with a little sidetrack to Gisborne and a visit with the effervescent Mary at Patch N Quilt, which we enjoyed enormously, and not just for the fabric, but the chat with Mary too!!…….we didn’t leave until closing time!!
Helen and I both fell for the same fabric, Helen acquiring this….
while I chose this….
….and, oops, this too….
…and, oops, this too!…
We finished the day with dinner at the pub, then a couple of movies.
Saturday dawned bright and sunny…
…and time to have a quick walk up the main street, where we discovered the fruit and veg shop looking resplendent with fresh produce…..
Stitching and eating ensued….
….followed by eating, stitching and more movies, including supping on Lynette’s superb apple pie…
…my mouth is watering just uploading these photos!!
Sunday was a bit cloudy, and a little cooler….
…and while we feasted on Kaye’s scrumptious freshly baked scones….
…the birds were finding something interesting on the lawn….
There was no shortage of treats to help keep us sewing….
and before we knew it, it was time to pack up, leave the lovely Sewjourn, and head home…
I’ll be back tomorrow to show you what we accomplished, but will leave you with a Sewjourn Light Show…..don’t think I’ve ever really noticed them before!!!
