What a Weekend!

Well it’s taken over an hour just to sort through the 120+ photos from the weekend, whittle them down, sort them, collage them…..phew!! I have enough here for posts for the whole week! Shan’t bore you all for that long though. Suffice to say it was a fab weekend away with seven other sewing fiends, er friends.

Our destination was Heburn Springs, however, we went via Geelong! For those of you not familiar with Victoria’s geography, we headed south west instead of north west! Just a little diversion!!

Why head that way, you ask? Well we wanted to visit Jennifer at A Piece of Cloth, having enjoyed seeing her at the Box Hill Town Hall for the Dear Jane exhibition earlier this year. And we were not disappointed!! The store is set amongst old buildings from a paper mill, dating back to 1876.

20130507-214323.jpgInside is a treasure trove, just begging to be explored!

20130507-214451.jpgSo many beautiful things to tempt!

20130507-214536.jpgThere were some old things, and some pictures of young things that are now old things!

20130507-215403.jpgMy Cousin J joined us (sorry Cousin S!) in searching out good things, then we all went to lunch at the nearby Fyansford Hotel….

20130507-214943.jpgThankfully we were given our own room in which to dine……the noise level in conversation and laughter may have disturbed fellow diners!!

After a fond farewell to Cousin J (some people’s New Best Friend!!), our next stop was Millrose, always a delight…

20130507-215830.jpgWith the extra shopping, the car was…er, rather full!

20130507-215914.jpgFinally we arrived at our destination…..

20130507-220102.jpg….unpacked, settled in, and brought out our purchases for show and tell….

20130507-220251.jpg….trinkets, treasures, and fabrics new and old….

20130507-220320.jpg…and sweet orphan blocks, with fabulous “made” sections – check them out!

Happy stitching

Oh Meredithe…..if you only knew how I live thru your entries! I love, love, love your blog, pix, stories of your stitching adventures. We have been in contact before when I “won” some of your lovely templates. I live in NE Washington state near the Canadian border…..in a relatively remote area. Few quilters do such fun work. I enjoy seeing what you ladies do…..it is so different from what I see here in the states. Visiting Australia, and actually seeing what you blog about are on my bucket list. And if ever you feel inclined to visit up here…..for a visit with moose, deer, cougars and trout fishing…..just contact me! My husband too is an avid golfer. He hits balls (a practice kind) all winter long off our deck into the snow…..and then we spend early spring trying to find them all. He is as much a nut about golf as I am about sewing.

How did you pack so much into one weekend? Looks like a fabulous time was had by all. One question……what’s inside the little orange case from Millrose?

Absolutely ‘fab’ post! Loved that “destination” and all your ‘treasures’ would keep me going for a long time! Thanks for taking us along…..we really don’t eat much…LOL! Totally “hear” ya on the decibel level of the conversation….a separate room is always a nice touch (for all concerned!!!! Hugs, Doreen
