Kidnapped!

Apart from another visit to the doctor and a trip to the chemist for a third lot of antibiotics, I hadn’t left the house for a week as this sinus infection continues its hold on yours truly. All my social activities have been cancelled including, Agog and Aghast!, attendance at the Australian Quilt Convention – missed it for The. First. Time. Ever!!

However, yesterday morning my lovely friend Glenda called in and, brooking no argument, bundled me into the car to take me to a much awaited, long held sewing day; I had thought she’d be taking my apologies, not me!

Our travels took to us to the beautiful home of Cathy

20130422-112050.jpg(read more about this gorgeous furniture here), where, surrounded by a sumptuous array of quilts, we caught up with friends, made new friends, and, as always, had a fabulous time! Here’s a sampling of what we saw and got up to…

20130422-112343.jpgLots and lots of show and tell, mandatory!

20130422-112442.jpgLots of chat and laughter, of course!

20130422-112556.jpgQuilts old and new, sublime!

20130422-112824.jpgSewing accoutrements and food, obviously!

There were bloggers, ex-bloggers and non-bloggers.

Fascinating to discover how we’d all came to this point, be it from the traditional route of beginners class at a shop (me!), or the self taught from books, magazines and Internet.

Wonderful to hear where some of us want to/are going to venture to next in our quilting journey.

Interesting to discuss the state of our industry and the technology available.

Such a fun day! Thank you ladies, and especially Cathy for hosting this delightful sew-in!

Within 5 minutes of being dropped at home, late afternoon, I was in my pj’s, with a cup of tea, doing a fetching impression of a couch potato, and there I stayed for the rest of the afternoon and evening. I valiantly stayed up to view “Call the Midwife”, sobbing my way through another fabulous episode (not a good look for the sinuses!), and fell exhausted into bed not to arise until some 11 hours later!

It’s going to be another quiet day here at p and c!! Hope you had a great weekend.

Happy stitching

I too am suffering from a sinus infection. It is a good thing my husband buys kleenex by the case. It has not stopped me working on my scrap box…cutting them all into strips and squares. I am now ready for the next scrappy quilt…if I can keep the cat out of the basket. Hope you are on the mend and I do love your posts.

  7. I hope you feel better soon. I have not doubt you sewing outing was welcome. Looking at the show and tell I have decided that I’m definitely missing out on colour in my life. So it’s time to do something about it now. Thanks for sharing the inspiration.

Well, if you’re going to be kidnapped, I’d say, that’s the way to do it. I LOVE the quilt in the first picture. And it looks like you had a wonderful show and tell. Was Ms. Lollylegs present? One of those quilts tops looks like one she recently posted on Instagram!

I sat down with some stitching to watch “Call the Midwife” but couldn’t sew for weeping!!! Is it me or is this season “grittier”? T. I hope you’re feeling better very soon and thank you for sharing the fabulous show and tell.
