Sydney Bound!!

With the alarm set to go off at 4.00am Friday morning, nerves were a-tingle with excitement…….and, Murphy’s Law, I was awake at 1.16 and couldn’t go back to sleep!! Never mind! We, being GJ, Miss C and I, made the plane in plenty of time, landed in a wet Sydney, tumbled into a taxi and arrived at Quiltsmith at 9.25, ready and raring to go!!

Why Sydney, you ask? We’re here for a weekend of fun and stitching, shopping, and class with Margaret Sampson George. A number of women have come up from Melbourne, and we’ve met with several girls from Sydney and surrounds.

Quiltsmith, our meeting place on Friday morning, has an amazing array of fabrics

20140329-210300.jpgfull shelves and the overflow set out in boxes. There are spots, stripes, 1930’s, repro’s, moderns……you name it, it’s there!!

20140329-210433.jpgHaving been the first of the group to set foot in the store, we’d done our shopping as the others slowly drifted in, so we set off for a short walk to a nearby cafe for a restorative cuppa

20140329-211827.jpgooh….and the new Daphne’s Diary!

Then it was onto one of my “must get to” shops….

20140329-212203.jpgand we were so warmly welcomed by Kathy

20140329-212242.jpg(yes, I did pick up a few bits and pieces!!).

From the outside…

20140329-212555.jpgand all through the inside

20140329-212634.jpgthis store is a feast for the senses; so much to see, so much to take in, so much to buy!!! Loved it!

Heading further north, we stopped for a late lunch/afternoon tea

20140329-212831.jpg at Alfresco Emporium. Easter was a strong theme throughout the store

20140329-213055.jpgbut there is also a fabulous array of home wares

20140329-213157.jpgmaking me want to ditch my current furniture/homewares and start again…..all from here!! Even the entry way to the conveniences was attractive!

20140329-213330.jpgAnd it was here I met Cardygirl!! And she’s the sweetest, most lovely person. Mr Cardy is here too, and what an obliging man he is, ferrying crazy women around!! It is sooo lovely to meet, in person, blog friends!

Our final destination was our accommodation for the weekend, Checkers Resort

20140329-214848.jpgwhich, as you can see, is in a beautiful setting

20140329-214928.jpgand very comfortable. We dined well at the Terrey Hills Tavern, then three extremely tired budgies went to bed, ready for a BIG Saturday!!

And ooh, what a day we’ve had!! So much to show you from today!! But you’ll have to wait, it’s getting late, and I’m a bit brain depleted!
