Monday Sewing

Yes, you read correctly! I’ve started going out, only once a month, for Monday stitching. The lovely Linda has invited some friends to stitch with her once a month, and Linda didn’t have to twist my arm to gain my participation!

Linda has a beautiful home, with quilts and bits and pieces to delight the eye at every turn…

20130212-135624.jpgAnn collected a quilt which Deb had long armed for her…

20130212-140254.jpg…the fabrics are all poly-cottons, bought on a trip to Hawaii….just gorgeous….

20130212-140408.jpg…and a pieced backing too….

20130212-140446.jpgNot only did I have a thoroughly enjoyable day, I also went out stitching in the evening!

A few of us were so inspired by seeing the Dear Jane exhibition last week that we’ve decided to get together once a month to “Dear Jane”. As I’d actually started this quilt some 14 or so years ago, it was a matter of hunting out the box….found!

20130212-141141.jpgchecking out the contents….wow, there’s some oldies but goodies in here!…

20130212-141242.jpg…finding the blocks made….oh, only 8…

20130212-141358.jpg…and discovering a nice surprise…

20130212-141520.jpgthen it was off to Glenda’s for an industrious and entertaining evening, complete with Dear Jane “tablecloth”…

20130212-141825.jpg…delicious supper…

20130212-142225.jpg…and a box and bag to covet!

Happy stitching

I love Linda’s log cabin table topper! And your Dear Jane blocks! Don’t suppose they are on the ‘to do’ list?!

That sounds like my kind of Monday! The Hawaiian quilt is so different, but lovely and bright. I don’t think I could ever use a Dear Jane as a tablecloth, but I’m sure it added some glamour to your evening.

  6. I love the way that Hawaiian quilt is set out. The cornerstones demarking each four patch. It’s wonderful. It’s looks like you all had a good time. Very inspiring. There’s nothing like getting together with like-minded people.

Wish I’d been there! Sounds like a wonderful day! I recently got back to work on my Dear Jane started in 2007. I have 55 blocks so far, but it still seems daunting with so many more to go, but won’t it be worth it?! Your first 8 are beautiful!

this would be the only way I would ever finish my Dear Jane quilt having a group to sit and make blocks with each month! what a treasure trove of fabrics you have in that box!

How lucky are you to join Linda and be inspired. Now you have to talk her into showing even more little vignettes from her home. Thank you for all of the sharing that you do. I’m inspired!

That looks like such a wonderful get-together! How lucky you are to have a group of like-minded friends with whom to meet and share. I’ve had that in some locations, but sadly, not now.
That Hawaiian quilt is fabulous! What a nice way to remember a trip.
